Not sure if a cruise is for you? Try a taster cruise

More and more holiday-makers are realising the benefits of embarking on a holiday across the seas with Pullmantur Cruises. With an all-inclusive cruising package which includes free drinks, free meals, port taxes, and much more, it is easy to see how Pullmantur offers one of the best-value holiday products on the market. All of this can be enjoyed from the comfort of your cruise ship as you sail from one mesmerising destination to the next.

If you have yet to embark on a cruise for the first time and want to test the waters before dedicating to a full itinerary, you may enjoy a taster itinerary. The Mediterranean season commences at the end of the month with the three-night Costa Azul itinerary, which takes passengers out of Barcelona on a short journey to some of the most glamourous destinations on the southern French coast. This week, Pullmantur Cruises takes a closer look at the highlights of this fantastic itinerary.

The Catalonian city of Barcelona is situated on the east coast of Spain and literally does have something for everyone. One of the first things you will notice in this impressive city is the towering Sagrada Familia – a towering basilica which has gained UNESCO World Heritage status and has been under construction since 1882. Located not too far from this impressive structure is the artistic and colourful Park Guell – which is filled with fascinating mosaic designs. Both of these landmarks offer a contrast to the city’s renowned golden beaches, which offer an ideal place to soak up the sun.

After setting sail from Barcelona, you will then head towards the French Riviera town of Villefranche-sur-Mer, which is situated close to the renowned areas of Nice and Monaco. Although tours to both of these places are available, the Villefranche area is renowned for its deep-water harbour and its coarse sandy beach – which offers the perfect place to soak up the Mediterranean sun.

Once you have finished catching the rays and topping up the tan, you will then head further east to the city of Toulon. While the beaches may be particularly appealing here, it is also worth taking some time to admire the architecture of this area. The historical centre was built during the Middle ages and is made up intricate streets, charming shops and many significant landmarks of historical value.

On board experience

All of these destinations can be enjoyed while appreciating the comfort and range of amenities available on board Sovereign. This 2,733-passenger vessel provides plenty to do as well as a relaxing place to rest your head in between each destination. You can head to the top deck to soak up the sun, with plenty of sun loungers and a cool and relaxing pool to enjoy. Alternatively, you can glance out to sea while receiving a delicate massage in the Spa del Mar, which is sure to relieve any tension you may have.

As drinks are included in the price of your fare, you will be glad to know that there are plenty of dining venues and bars and lounges on board to enjoy. In addition to the included dining venues, the Wu Fusion Restaurant is available for a small supplementary fee and enables passengers to enjoy the vibrant flavours of Far East Asia.

Of course, if you want to keep on top of fitness goals while also appreciating the high quality dining options on board, you may be glad to know there are plenty of options available. A sports court and climbing wall provide outdoor fitness opportunities, while the fully-equipped gym is perfect for anyone keen to stick to a strict workout.

Towards the end of March, Pullmantur Cruises will commence its Mediterranean season, offering passengers the chance to visit a range of destinations from the delights of Spain to the charming islands of Greece. In addition, Pullmantur will also begin operating itineraries to the Norwegian fjords and the Baltic nations in the coming months.
